HALF MOON FARM

our story

Living in New York City, many years ago, we joined a CSA. It was the beginning of a journey that led us back to our hometown to start a farm to provide the best possible food for our family and our customers.

Farming is in our heritage. Aaron has homesteaders in his recent family history and Rachael and Clark's grandfather, Sawyer, ran a dairy farm. Upon his land sat Half Moon Swamp. Our name is a tribute to our roots and our way of honoring both where we have come from and appreciating the family support we have in pursuing this endeavor.

Another important step in our journey was learning about factory farming- mostly from the Michigan Chapter of the Sierra Club. We became deeply troubled by the inhumane and environmentally disastrous
way in which almost all meat, dairy and eggs are produced in our country.

We moved to Oregon where we immersed ourselves in learning about natural health care, homebirth, alternative schooling models, gardening, bee keeping, building, basic homesteading skills, raising chickens and living a more ecologically sustainable life.

Shortly after the birth of our daughter we decided to make the leap and move back to our network of family support in our hometown and start a farm.

We are joined in this  farming work by Rachael's brother, Clark. We also couldn't get through our busy weeks without the help of our amazing team of family helpers to whom we are incredibly grateful!

What we do is who we are. We are deeply committed to providing the cleanest, most nutrient dense food possible for our family- and yours. You are welcome to join our path toward a healthier planet and a healthier you!

Thank you for your interest in our farm. Please contact us with questions or for more information.
